Mineral Water:
Minerals collect naturally as water flows through geological formations to its source. These minerals must be naturally present at certain levels, not added. S.Pellegrino® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is a mineral water.
Purified Water:
Purified water is water that has been processed to remove minerals through either distillation, deionization or reverse osmosis.
Sparkling Water:
Think of sparkling water as water with fizz. Carbon dioxide is most often added, but in some cases the water is naturally carbonated. Sparkling water is different than club soda, which has added salt for flavor.
Spring Water:
Spring water comes from a natural spring in the ground
1) WHAT IS BOTTLED WATER?
According to the federal regulations, bottled water is defined as water that is sealed in bottles or other containers and intended for human consumption. Bottled water can range from common tap water that is treated and bottled, to premium-quality natural mineral water drawn from underground sources.
2) WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPARKLING WATER AND STILL WATER?
The distinction is very simple - still water has no carbonation. Sparkling or carbonated water derives its effervescence from two primary processes: It can be naturally sparkling from the ground, or carbonation may be added from a natural or man-made source of carbon dioxide gas. Levels of carbonation vary widely, influencing the amount of effervescence. S.Pellegrino® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is enjoyed for its light, natural carbonation and tiny bubbles.
3) WHAT IS MINERAL WATER?
A variety of mineral waters are available today - some have a relatively low mineral content, while others have a high concentration of dissolved minerals. With a "natural mineral water," the minerals are collected in the water as it flows through geological formations. All water has some mineral content unless it's been artificially demineralized. Mineral water is divided into three categories: lightly mineralized (less than 500 milligrams total dissolved solids [TDS] ); moderately mineralized (500 to 1,500 milligrams TDS ); and highly mineralized (1,500 or more milligrams TDS ). S.Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is considered a moderately mineralized water.
4) WHY DO PEOPLE DRINK MINERAL WATER?
People choose mineral water because of its refreshing taste and effervescence. Mineral water is consumed as an accompaniment to fine dining and as a light and elegant alternative to soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.
5) DOESN'T MINERAL WATER HAVE A LOT OF SODIUM?
The amount of sodium can vary widely from one brand of mineral water to another. However, compared with other common beverages, such as milk (120 mg per 8 ounces) and soft drinks (8 to 30 mg per 8 ounces), most mineral waters have low levels of sodium. According to U.S. federal regulations, a product can be labeled "very low sodium" if a serving contains less than 35 milligrams of sodium. In accordance with this regulation, S.Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water (10.3 milligrams of sodium per 8-ounce serving) meets this requirement as "very low sodium."
6) WHAT CAUSES THE DIFFERENCE AND DISTINCTIVE TASTE OF BOTTLED WATERS?
The taste of a particular water depends on where it comes from - its sources - and its mineral composition and balance. Other factors that influence taste include the container in which it is bottled (glass or plastic), temperature and level of carbonation
and it may or may not be carbonated or classified as mineral. Acqua Panna® Natural Spring Water is a spring water.
S.Pellegrino, the sparkling water preferred by high-end restaurants
S.Pellegrino is the result of an extraordinary combination of exceptionally pure water and minerals. The water collects in a rocky mass on the side of the Brembana Valley in the Dolomites and then seeps down through hundreds of meters of mountain rock. After an underground journey which takes over 30 years and covers hundreds of kilometres, during which the water is cleansed of impurities and enriched with minerals, the water emerges at a temperature of 25° C from the source at San Pellegrino Terme. The water's pleasing effervescence, its subtle pearly reflections, and its thirst-quenching taste have made it famous the world over. It makes an excellent accompaniment to well-flavoured dishes and full-bodied wines and, along with Acqua Panna, rounds off any fine dining experience.
Known since medieval times, by the 16th century the source of S.Pellegrino had become so renowned as to merit a visit from the great Leonardo Da Vinci himself, and over the next two centuries the source established itself as a major spa destination. Over time San Pellegrino Terme gradually grew into an attractive town, and by the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries its elegant art nouveau buildings such as the Municipal Casino and the Grand Hotel, luxurious hotels and private villas, and fashionable restaurants and cafes, all meant that the town transformed itself into a magnet for aristocrats from all over Europe. 1899 saw the establishment of the S.Pellegrino water bottling company; just a few years later bottles of S.Pellegrino water could be found not only all over Europe and America, but also in Cairo, Tangiers, Shanghai, Calcutta, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney- making S.Pellegrino a “must have” for top restaurants around the globe. Since then production and distribution have increased steadily over time, so that today S.Pellegrino is sold in 115 countries around the world.
S.Pellegrino can be found on the tables of the world's leading restaurants, with which it shares a passion for fine cuisine and elegant dining. S.Pellegrino not only sits effortlessly with fine dining, but indeed has come to be an essential component of it. It has come to symbolize the pleasure of living “Italian style”- shorthand for enjoyable dining and fine food all around the world, from Rome to Los Angeles, Paris to Tokyo. A way of being that transcends cultures and places, and which lives up to its well-known line: “Whatever language you speak, Live in Italian”. |
